    The book was created with 3 main objectives...Firstly is "The past and present" . in this bok, you will see illustrations almost a hundred years old, when illustrator painted fish by using the tip of a paintbrush and painted point by point and took serveral days to do so. You will also see photos taken by the most medern of digital cameras on the market. The pictures and colours are created by the processing of tiny but enormously efficient computer chips, creating data files in less than a second. Although ears and methods have changed, hearts are just the same, the hearts of those who would like to reveal the beauty of fishes to others.

    Secondly is "diversity" ...This book contains only basic information due to the limitations of space and because we would like you to see more fishes. we happily bring more than 200 species of fish to your attention. It is likely that this book comprises the most diverse range of marine fishes. And of course, all picture come directly from Thai seas. None were taken in a tank. Apart from the pictures and short species descriptions it contains serveral symbols, verified from academic data, for distribution, status and level of interest to diving tourists.

    Thirdly is "acacemics" ...The Handbook of Andaman Fishes will be used as a teaching reaource for the course on "Coral Reef Ecology" taught at the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University and may well be used in schools, diving lessons, tourism and many others. The language used id based on academic literature and can be used for reference. However, the book is intended to be concise, easy to read and suitable for the public, especially those who are interested in fishes.
